Here are some hints and tips I have picked up over the years mostly from my fellow modellers and a few I have found out for my self, I hope you find them useful

GLOW FUEL; glow fuel is hygroscopic (it absorbs water from the atmosphere) so if you do not have a anodised aluminium glow bottle cap, to keep out the condensation wee beastie’s, and grass from contaminating your fuel, and to stop the nitro from evaporating, leaving your fuel the octane level of gnats urine, then at least keep the plastic cap on the bottle, at all times.

BATTERY CHECKER; buy your self a good quality battery checker, and use it! before you take off, not after you crash!

CHICKEN STICK; flick the prop with a chicken stick, not your finger. ask any nine fingered aeromodeller.

|
|
|
B.M.F.A. join the British model flying association, £25 a year gives you five million pounds of insurance cover, should your model ever crash into persons or property, NO WIN NO FEE. in this day and age do I really have to spell it out to you!!

Build your own models, it is the most rewarding part of the hobby,
I have partaken in the self pleasuring activity known as A.R.T.F.ing, but this form of immediate gratification can not and never will replace the thrill and satisfaction of controlling the sticks, as an aircraft you have created with your own fair hand rises like a Memphis of achievement, that only you know the true cost of in sweat and toil !!!

the beauty of aeromodelling is that you will always learn something new, so listen to the wisdom and experience of your fellow aeromodeller what ever there age! however long they have been in the hobby, he who listens less hears the least!!

if someone you don’t know knocks on your door! the chances are at some point he’s gonna want your money!

ALWAYS BALANCE YOUR PROPS BEFORE YOU FIT THEM ON YOUR ENGINE!
an unbalanced prop will vibrate, and vibration kills model engine crank shafts fast
NO PROP EVER COMES TRULY BALANCED AND ITS AN EASY JOB TO DO
Using a propeller balance or a pin, simply sand the edge of the heavy blade of the prop until it balances.
Or another method is to smear a light coating of varnish on the back of the lighter blade of the prop.
And using a tapered or stepped prop reamer, ream the prop from the front and back, so that the prop sits central on the shaft,
AS EASY AS SHELLIN PEAS!!
